Jailbreaking is when you or someone else uses a computer program to fundamentally alter a device’s software. Some people use recovery mode if they want to jailbreak their iPad or iPhone. You can also use it for various forms of troubleshooting. It’s appropriate to use it when the current version of iOS that you’re running is damaged. Recovery mode for your iPad, or other Apple devices, is a failsafe that you can use to revive the device if it’s struggling. Keep reading as we explain how to put an iPad in recovery mode. Let’s talk about what recovery mode is, when it’s appropriate to use it, and how to do so. If that is what’s happening, then putting it in recovery mode might be the solution. Like all electronic devices, though, occasionally, you might encounter problems with its software.įor instance, maybe the latest iOS update isn’t working for you, or some other component has rendered your iPad unresponsive. Dependability is something that has allowed the popular Apple tablet to maintain its prominent market share. Totally *****.Part of the reason why the iPad has sold so well over the years is that it’s a reliable device. I have an appt tomorrow at my local store so they better be able to replace it or fix it as this is the 2nd one!!!! And if everyone else is having this problem, I'm not sure if I want to continue with it. Seriously thinking about switching to that new windows tablet. Is that normal for macs? I thought that was only a windows thing!!! Needless to say I'm ****** beyond belief. This went on for 5 minutes before I stopped the video and my iPad even gave me the blue screen of death. It does this 10 times BEFORE my home screen comes up and it's shaking and all weird looking. Tries to start up again and flashes again. Thinking it's doing that stupid restart thing, I let it go but then it flashes and shuts off again. So I've only been on my NEW iPad twice and tonight as I'm looking up restaurants in my area for my birthday dinner tomorrow, it shuts off and shows the apple logo. I've only had my iPad since Monday of this week (the 17th I think is the date) because they had to order it since they didn't have one in the store. So I called Apple support, talked to a senior advisor and was able to get my iPad replaced. II'm so glad this post exists! I've had my 4th generation iPad for 2 years now with no problems until last week. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. Again, say "yes."Īt the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless. I fully expect that ytou will quickly end up at the last paragraph.į irst try a system reset. I fully realize that a lot of what I'm saying you have already done but I just want to be sure.
